A sculptural coastal relic with the raw texture of something shaped, weathered and left behind by the sea.
A one-of-a-kind ceramic piece inspired by shells, crustaceans and the extraordinary forms that wash ashore along wild coastlines.
Built from sand-enriched clay, Tidal Relic has a wonderfully raw, almost fossil-like character. Its irregular folds, heavily textured edges and warm sandstone tones give it the appearance of something naturally formed rather than made, while a reactive pearlescent glaze catches the light across the interior with flashes of soft iridescence.
There is something almost archaeological about the piece, as though it could just as easily belong in a natural history collection as within the home. Functional as well as sculptural, it can be used as a soap dish, jewellery or trinket bowl, or simply displayed as part of a wider sea and shore collection.
Companion piece
The smaller piece shown in selected photographs is Tidal Fragment, a separate one-of-a-kind work created in smoother clay with added texture and surface variation to complement Tidal Relic.
Although the two pieces share the same coastal language of shell, sand and weathered form, they are each sold individually.
